RAAS CHHATRASAGAR
Luxury tents have always played an important part in Rajput lifestyle. Constant safari campaigns in far-flung lands meant long stays in tents in inhospitable conditions. These tents were the only luxury available and soon these ‘homes away from home’ evolved into mobile, mini-palaces. RAAS Chhatrasagar captures this romance.
The new tents are larger, sound-proofed and more solid structures. Each is contemporary with soft muted colours, Jodhpur stone, teak furniture and sky lights; understated but chic and fresh. Every space has air-conditioning and heating so the camp remains open all year round – one of the few tented camps in India to do so.
A new walkway to the tents allows you to sit outside your tent in addition to giving more privacy, whilst retaining the idyllic views. There’s nothing quite like sitting on your veranda, with a good book, sipping a chilled glass of something, and being rewarded with glorious, uninterrupted views and virtually no sign of habitation.
BIRDS AT CHHATRASAGAR
RAAS Chhatrasagar has a very diverse birdlife with over 250 species. Guests can enjoy the birdlife up close from almost anywhere in the camp.
THE ESSENCE & EXPERIENCE
The essence of the camp remains unchanged. RAAS’s owners have a strong belief and passion for Chhatrasagar, making any improvements to the property in a sensitive way. A major focus remains on the birdlife, farming communities, walks and rewilding. Accompanied by one of our knowledgeable naturalists, explore the farm, local temples and meet the villagers. Take a gentle dawn stroll around the lake, or an evening jeep drive through the grasslands, spying myriad bird species and herds of blue bull. Finish with a surprise sundowner, relax in the lovely tented sitting room and enjoy chatting around a blazing fire under a canopy of stars, before settling into a culinary feast for dinner. The food here is exceptional – we use local, organic home produce as much as possible, with meals made using age-old family recipes, which have received some of the highest praise in Rajasthan.
