Twenty-two years ago I’d have sold my soul to Mephistopheles (aka Mandelson before Mandelson was invented) for the private jet. PJs weren’t invented in India then; Maharajahs had trained, and the rest of us hung around tortuous airports where the luggage carousel was twinned with Waiting for Godot.
